Just a quick update to bring ya'll up to speed on what's happenin' here.

We're still in the hospital. Cody's throat has finally started feeling better. He drank 4 juices last night!

I'm so thankful that we're here and the doctors have been monitoring Cody's red and white blood count. White cells continue to climb, Praise Jesus!

Red cells are just plain lazy. Yesterday Cody's platelet count was critically low and he had to have a platelet transfusion. The fact that they can even separate the platelets from the actual cells is mind boggling! Cody did really good receiving the transfusion . His scalp got a little itchy in the beginning, but it soon passed and he felt fine afterwards.

Every morning at 5:30, a nurse comes to draw blood and usually by 8am, we have a pretty good idea of what our day is gonna look like. If the white cells are low, we won't be able to see our visitors hands or faces (they have to wear gloves and a face mask). If red cells are low, we have to pray more fervently.

This morning we received the news that Cody's red cell count had dropped from 24 to 15. Now I don't know what all these numbers mean in plain English, but I know that 15 is pretty much an emergency. The doctor described it as Cody's heart is pumping a bunch of watery blood. So a blood transfusion is unavoidable.

He's actually receiving it right now as I type. I wrestled with God like a luchador over and over on this one. But more on that later. All this medical talk is makin' me tired. I need a nap. And a coke in a can.

I am praying with you about that bag of blood!! I hope you are having a good day on Wednesday and that you will soon have some "food-food" not that "slimmy" stuff. Although, I am praying that you will soon be well and out of the hospital, I am thankful that you are in a place that is so "on top" of everything going on in your body. This hospital has been a blessing. And they are feeding my dear sweet Amy!!! I love you guys and pray for you many times during the day. Keep on smiling! You both have the most beautiful smiles in the world. Love, Mama B
