Whoa, we just spent the entire day at the hospital getting staples out, having labs checked, and a seemingly never ending search for answers on the tongue issue. I feel like we've gotten the run around, pretty much up until today. The Neurosurgeon says one thing; the Anesthesiologist says another. I feel like we're finally starting to make some head way - and are finally getting some answers on what the stink happened!

We met with the Associate Professor of Anesthesia this afternoon and in all his 30 yrs, he's never seen anything like it. He came to the conclusion that Cody's tongue somehow sustained nerve ending damage. We don't know if it was from the surgery itself or the anesthesia. I do know that they had a difficult time putting the breathing tube down Cody's throat pre-surgery. Anyway, I think how it happened is pretty irrelevant now. We just want it to get better! In the photo below, you can see how Cody's tongue automatically curves to the right when he sticks it out. It's also a little swollen on the right side - making it difficult for him to talk sometimes, eat, chew, swallow, etc. You never realize how vital the tongue is until something happens!

Basically, we're told that nerve endings do heal, it just takes T-I-M-E and a whole lotta P-A-T-I-E-N-C-E on Cody's part. Please keep praying for this.. whatever God lays on your heart. A Neurologist will actually come see Cody sometime over the next 5 days while he's in the hospital to evaluate.

On another note, Cody got his staples out this morning - yay!

It was quick and painless.
and this is one happy Booney..

and his wife of 10 mths today! :) Happy Anniversary, Cody.. I love you!

Cody will be admitted in the morning for 5 days of inpatient chemo. He's not looking forward to this at all.

One other thing, we've been having weird dreams / nightmares and have been waking up feeling like we just went thru intense battles. Please pray for spiritual protection over us!

And also in regards to chemo, this will be the 8th cycle that he has gone thru. Does the # 8 mean breakthrough by any chance? :) Please pray that God will supernaturally use this one to shrink the tumors, and radiacate this stuff from Cody's body once and for all.
