crazy shenanigan's!

what a long day... and i haven't even left the east coast. my flight was delayed out of Charlotte because of bad weather in Philly, so we sat on the runway for 3 hrs waiting for clearance from air traffic control. uneventful. by the time we finally arrived in philly, my flight to Rome had taken off without half of its passengers.

so where i am now? in a luxury suite at the sheraton in philly, thank you US Air. it's a really sweet suite and such a shame that theres no one here to enjoy it with me. this is one hotel room in which i'm not afraid to sleep under the covers.. haha!

my flight has been totally rerouted and i'm now flying to toronto at 7:45am.... with a nice long 11 hr layover waiting for me {insert sarcasm} :)
i depart for tel aviv at 8:20pm, thurs night, arriving there at 1:30pm on friday. a whopping 24 hrs late!

i hope it doesnt sound like im complaining, cause im really not. its all part of the adventure :) i'm sure i'll look back on this day and laugh... someday, in the distant future.

on a lighter note, i met one of the coolest 77 yr old ladies ever today while stuck on the runway. she was on her way to Rome with her son, one of the many trips she has taken since retiring in '94. in july, she's going on a mission trip to NEPAL! did i mention she's 77 yrs old??? :) man, i was so encouraged by her heart and desire to keep on going! please say a little prayer for Mildred.

Amy! Oh I know how that is. Last summer we had an unexpected overnight in Detroit on our way to the Philippines. For us it turned out to be a great chance to catch up on sleep before our adventure. I hope you are able to enjoy it. I can't wait to hear about all that God does while you are there! love you...

Same thing happened to us coming back from Calif--stuck in Charlotte in a snow storm only no one put us up in a nice suite. That's great they did that. ENJOY!

Mildred reminds me of my own mom who was still doing mission trips well into her 70's. That's awesome.

Be safe and 'look for unexpected joy.'
