what an amazing day! i absolutely love it here... and i havent even been to Jerusalem yet. the palestinians are so beautiful and so hospitable. im learning so much about hospitality already.
2 friends and i went to visit a palestinian believer and her father. even though i dont speak arabic and he only knows about 20 english words, our spirits connected. i instantly started calling him grandpa. we sat on the couch in their humble apartment looking at photos of his deceased wife and just smiling at each other. the language barrier is really frustrating already, but sometimes you dont need words. sometimes words would only mess things up as i was soon about to see.
through hand gestures and the word Jaffa, we understood that grandpa used to live in Jaffa. during the war, he and his family were kicked out, never able to return. he hung his head and his eyes filled with tears. my friend and i looked at each other and then our eyes began to fill with tears too and we just sat sharing in grandpa's sorrow. i placed my hand on his back and my friend held his hand. it was a really sweet moment to cry with grandpa. i wish you could meet him. he has the sweetest spirit ever. i saw Jesus in grandpa's eyes today.
