one of my seemingly favorite things to say throughout my time in Israel/Palestine, was "if the _______ could tell stories!" the mountains, the ancient ruins, the rocks, the caves.
visiting the shepherd's fields in bethlehem was definitely a highlight! of all the places i went, i didn't find any one place where i wanted to leave some of Cody's ashes - except the caves in bethlehem. they were ancient, with long dark tunnels, and rock chairs set up in a circle. they were all alone, perched on top of a hill overlooking fertile valleys and Israeli settlements. twice i saw shepherd's herding their sheep on the green open fields below. it was surreal. Cody would've loved exploring these caves, no matter how dark or seemingly spooky.
i wish i could've sat down with a cup of Arabic tea and just listened to the rocks tell me stories.
