we flew into Mexico City yesterday to one of the most incredible burst of colors, light, and clouds you´ve ever seen. the sky was so spectacular, it looked fake. God is incredible! (im using a friends older laptop so cant post pictures)
as i made my way to immigration in the mexico city airport, i was handed a white piece of paper asking for my name, address, birthdate, and about 6 or 7 questions. do i have a cough? no. do i have a fever? no. do my muscles ache? no.
the media has created quite the histeria with swine flu. my friend who lives in the village has only hosted one youth group all summer, down from about 5 or 6, because of the swine flu and the problems with drug cartels. people are fearful. and arent traveling to mexico right now. i think this is the best time!
its been awesome seeing alot of old friends in the village, but also sad. most of the girls are grown up and pregnant. when i say grown up, i mean .. 14 or 15 yrs old now. in mexico they have a joke that if you have a lot of kids that means you dont have a tv. in that case, i´d say the government should invest in some! :) (although i hate tv, so thats definitely not the answer)
thanks so much for all your prayers.
