the path up the mountain was rocky and gradually getting steeper. i haven't climbed these hills in over 5 mths and was starting to feel it in my lungs that are currently filled with congestion.
almost to the top, i looked up to my absolute surprise to see THIS.....

the path on the far left

if you've never heard of Sadhu Sundar Singh go buy his biography right now! :) he was an incredible human being who followed hard after Jesus after He supernaturally revealed Himself to him in a vision. he literally walked all over N India and Tibet to share Jesus and to make sure others in distant villages knew Him too. he lived an incredible life of yieldedness, obedience, and walked so intimately and closely with Papa.

anyway, i reached the top of the mountain where you can sit and see all the way across to Sikkim. i was hoping to steal away for some alone time with Papa.... "it was no wonder that Christ often escaped from the haunts of men, from the depressing, suffocating odor of sin to the mountains to have a breath of fresh air of heaven." (Praying Hyde)

so i was up on the mountain, kinda in my own world and thinking of Sundar Singh and how he often slipped away too. for days at a time, he would sit on the mountain... just praying and being alone with Papa. i'm still trying to figure out what they talked about for DAYS, but anyway... :)

i sat down in the grass and took a deep breath when suddenly, a man walked over to me. he almost immediately started asking questions about Jesus even though i'm not sure how he even knew Who i follow.

i opened up to the book of John and let him read on his own about the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. "what does that mean?" he asked with such eagerness. then he wanted to know about baptism and what it is. i explained, then asked him if he wanted to be baptised and he said yes! i couldn't believe the surrealness of the moment. the harvest truly is plentiful, and if we just listen to Papa's voice and go where He sends, He will lead us to those who are ripe.

Uttam professes to believe in Jesus, but is still wearing a hindu necklace to protect himself from evil. i shared with him Psalm 91.. and how Jesus will be his protector wherever he goes!

sitting there on the side of the mountain, i felt a lot like Sunder Singh.

for an hour or so, Uttam and i just sat there in the grass... looking out over Papa's creation, talking about Him, and pondering life. Uttam is so hungry and humble with such a gentle spirit.

i got his #... and will connect him with a friend here who's working with YWAM.
