I am realizing more and more the unpredictability of our lives and just how quickly things can change in the blink of an eye.
What turned out to be a routine check-up with Cody's oncologist here at Stanford turned into him being admitted into the hospital. After hearing about all the pain Cody has been having on the left side, the droopy eye, abnormally small pupil, and numb elbow... she sent us straight to the hospital.
Cody is set to have a series of MRI's and CT scans over the next day or so. It's almost 9 pm and he hasn't had the first scan yet, so I'm thinkin' it's gonna be a long night. Not sure how long we'll be here... it all depends on what the scans show.
I didn't write about this earlier because of the uncertainties behind it, but about a month ago Cody had a brain scan. This is the first BRAIN scan that he has had since December. Back then everything was all clear, so there was never any reason to do any update scans. The scan from about 3 weeks ago showed "something", but Cody's oncologist in our town wasn't sure what it was.
The oncologist here at Stanford is concerned, which is the main reason why he was admitted today. It's possible that all of the pain on the left side is associated with this "something".
Cody and I are both in great spirits and are experiencing incredible peace. We had a really powerful prayer time together before we even went for the appt this morning and that has made all the difference. I especially felt to plead the blood of Jesus over Cody and to pray specifically that the plans of the enemy would be paralyzed by His blood. Several of you have already called to check on us and pray with us.. thank you so much! We feel the love of our Father surrounding us.
We have friends... Wes & Nikki... flying in from NC tomorrow to hang out with us for a few days. So we're pretty stoked to see them, even though our plans have totally taken a detour.
We have wireless in our room, so I'll update often.
