God loves you, Lance Armstrong!

yesterday, my friend, Jana and I drove by Lance Armstrong's house in Austin, TX. (later blog post coming on why and when i left Mexico)

Cody and Lance had something in common. testicular cancer. Armstrong's doctors had given him almost no chance of survival. Cody was initially given 75 - 80%. comparatively speaking, Armstrong should be dead.

when Cody was first diagnosed, we were given 3 copies of Armstrong's book, It's Not About The Bike: My Journey Back To Life, and a few of those little yellow wrist bands encouraging us to LIVESTRONG.

now i barely remember anything from the book, but there was one phrase that has stuck with me. after literally fighting for his life too, chemo, radiation, and 2 major brain surgeries, Armstrong declared "my doctors are my god".

driving past his house yesterday, i felt God's overwhelming love for this man. God loves Lance Armstrong so completely and passionately and longs to have a relationship with him. i'm not saying that's why he got healed, only God knows, but man it sure sounds like God's character. He is so loving and patient. He goes to great lengths to reveal Himself to us, to try to get our attention. He uses the horrible things the god of this age throws at us for our good and His glory. all because He loves us and wants us to know Him too.

God is so merciful and full of incredible grace. grace that we don't even deserve really. i like to think that He spared Armstrong's life because He's still trying to call that prodigal home.

You don't know me but I have been following your blog for quite some time. I want you to know I think you have such a beautiful heart and I hope you are physically strong because I feel like the jewels on your crown someday will be something to see. Bless you and your heart, my friend.

Amy, honey you are so good with words. I still think you should write a book. It would be a number 1 seller. HA! HA! Just think of the people who read your blog, they would go out and buy your book. You are so special honey. I love you more then you'll ever know.
God Bless You!
