it has to be well over 100 degrees here. all the houses in the village are made out of cement block, which absorbs heat and makes it feel like an oven inside. so its probably 130 inside! not really, i dont think, but gosh it sure feels like it.

all the guys are out in the open field playing soccer right now. i cant even stand to walk to the tienda down the street, much less play soccer.

tonight is my last night in the village, so i was asked by lorena and payo to make a regla (i think thats the word they used). anyway, its basically where if you stay with someone here then you cook them a meal before you leave. sounds like a great idea to me. so this morning i was off to Soriana bright and early in search of pork roast. Soriana is kinda like a one stop shop.

anyway, i searched high and low all over the meat department for pork. past the cow tongues, hearts, and pig legs, i didnt see anything that remotely resembled a pork roast. after searching for a good 20 minutes, i finally saw a poster of a pig hanging on the wall with arrows identifying all the different parts. aha, spotted the ¨roast¨ which is called lomo and told the guy thats what i wanted. apparently you have to ask for certain parts of the animals. they dont display everything. just the more important parts like hearts, tongues, and feet.

long story short, pork roast is in the crock pot and i sure hope they like it! :)

another funny story. yesterday i was walking thru the park when i passed a little girl sitting in the shade making mud pies. she asked if i was an American. i said yes, to which she replied... ¨give me a ring!¨ i told her i didnt have a ring to give her just as she saw my wedding rings and asked for those. of course i told her she couldnt have them and that seemed ok with her.

one last thing. for some reason, the little girls can´t remember my name so they just call me ¨Americana¨. of course i then call them ¨Mexicana¨ :)
