walking on water

last night i sat in a circle with about 30 other disciples of Jesus. the resounding theme throughout the whole evening seemed to be of God's miraculous provision.

over the past week, almost each person had a testimony of how God had provided, seemingly "out of the blue", for a need that they had.

here are a few of those testimonies that are still fresh in my mind:

1. a couple were completely broke with no money in their bank account. a couple of bills were due and they also felt to support a missionary. in faith, they wrote the checks knowing there was no money to back it up. later that day, they ran out to meet the mailman as they saw him nearing their box. he didn't have anything for them. a while later, a friend surprised them with a visit AND a check for the exact amount that they had written the checks for! a couple days later, a different friend handed them a wad of cash. $600 total.

2. another couple shared of how God provided $150.

3. another couple testified to how God gave them exactly $1,000 just in the nick of time

4. and my own testimony of how i've seen God provide so quickly for my upcoming trip to India. it has been the easiest and smoothest support raising i've ever done.

i absolutely love living by faith. i love being out of the boat. of not knowing where my next dollar is gonna come from and then all of a sudden, i get a deposit in my checking account or a check in the mail.

i really believe that God loves it too. i think it just absolutely delights His heart to see His kids taking that step of faith just like Peter to get out of the boat. life there is so much more exciting and adventurous. after all, it's where Jesus is.

i so wish CNN or FOX News had been there to record all the testimonies! and instead of airing all the fear driven, doom and gloom of the "economic meltdown", i'd love to see them air 30 disciples of Jesus testifying to how even in the midst of the storm, God is their provider!
