i arrived safe and sound yesterday to YWAM-Hyderabad with my friend, Kristina. she is joining the ministry here as the base director's assistant, so i came to help her get settled and moved in. i will be here for 3 wks, then off to Darjeeling.
we arrived just in time for the hindu festival, Diwali. festival of lights. the city is decorated with Christmas-type lights, people decorate their homes with lights and candles, and the streets are full of children (yes, children who have no fear of losing a finger or 2...) setting off fireworks which mostly sound like bombs and scare the day lights out of you if you're not expecting it!
the ywam family here is so hospitable, welcoming, and beautiful. Kristina and i are the only single girls, so it's kind of funny to be the minority for the first time in ywam. in the states, there are always so many more girls than guys.
by God's amazing grace, i'm doing really well... except for some crazy jet lag. we were awake all night last night and all day today. so a prayer request would be that we would both get acclimated quickly.
on another note, i'm enjoying the food immensely and the chai... we have tea time 3 x's a day!
i was a good bit nervous coming back to India.. and wasn't sure how i would react smelling the air again, but it's been great. and i am truly so happy to be here and really anticipating all that God has.
greeted at the airport with a flower garland,
which is considered an honorable welcome. i felt really special :)
