"Father to the fatherless, defender of widows - this is God, whose dwelling is holy. God places the lonely in families; He sets the prisoners free and gives them joy." Psalm 68:5, 6
above is a picture of a sweet little (literally!) babe that i met while waiting for the train in Calcutta. the "dot" on her forehead is ash, used to ward off evil spirits. her mother gave birth to her on the tracks, then took off unable to care for her. so sitting there holding this little gem was an elderly lady, maybe 50 or 60 yrs old. she came to her rescue. homeless herself without any income she found a way to buy milk and took care of her as if she were her own. it was beautiful to see.
Psalm 68:5 & 6 has been resounding in my spirit lately. but my cry has been.. "Lord, set ME in a family!"
i want to be mommy or ... aunty to lots of little brown babes.
i just recently finished Lillian Trasher's biography... wow, what an incredible woman of faith! in case you've never heard of her, she started the very first orphanage in Egypt in the early 1900's. she had no money and very little "experience" in the world's eyes, but God saw her big heart and trusting faith. she saw God supernaturally provide time and time again.
testimonies like hers inspire and encourage me greatly.
