Yesterday I met Barbara, a Mexican lady here at Stanford who has stomach cancer. I went in her room, introduced myself, and asked if I could pray for her. I don't know how she's feeling today, but I should definitely go find out tomorrow.
I also met Alma, a Mexican mother waiting patiently in the hall for her little boy (Eduardo) who was getting an MRI. I prayed for her, tried to encourage her the best I could in Spanish, and told her not to be afraid. Jesus, please heal Eduardo.
So even though we're not in Mexico at the moment, God is definitely using me to reach out to the Mexicans here.
I also met Cody. Just kidding! :) Each day Cody gets a little bit better. He got up twice today and went for a walk. He also got fitted for a back brace. Hopefully, that will help minimalize a lot of the pain he's been having in his lower back. We found out this morning that he has a blood clot in one of the veins in his abdomen. Please pray for that specifically. As of right now, the doctors are taking a "wait and see" attitude. They don't wanna give him a blood thinner since he just had surgery. But in about 5 days when we're at Mount Zion, they'll do a scan and go from there.
His breathing is the same and he still has a lot of fluid in his lungs. He's taking some medication, but so far it doesn't seem to be helping.
Thank you for standing with us and for us.

Dear Amy,
I don't think you'll need to ask God why one has to go through something in order for anyone else to come to Jesus. You'll know the answer before you get there.
Isn't that was Jesus did for us?
I hope you'll take some courage in the fact that God is right at your side, shaping you and refining you, and using you for His glory. You are priveleged with being in the spotlight of suffering where people in darkness can see God at work. Suffering is a magnet of attention. The world takes notice.
I take alot of comfort in what Jesus said (I think it's recorded in the beginning of Matthew 12 or Matthew 15). Even the branches that already bear fruit, He prunes so that they can bear EVEN MORE fruit.
Hold on to Jesus, dear girl.

Cody and Amy, I am so proud of both of you...God knows where your mission field is...it's wherever you are...He put you there, and you both continually look for His face in those around you. A future and a hope is what He has in mind for you!

Hi Cody-Man & Amy-Girl...I'm not going to pontificate on the 'why's'of suffering...it distracts from this present moment.

My Dear Sweet Amy,
You are so amazing honey. I love you so much and wish I could be their for you. When you hurt...I hurt, and I know you are hurting right now.
If I had the money you know I'd be right their with you and Cody. To give you a hug when you needed one....to let you lay down and get some rest while I keep an eye on Cody for you. :) to go get you something to eat, because you want leave Cody's side. To let you cry on my shoulder and tell me how you fill.
But you know it is impossible for us to be their? But know that we are with you every day. Just shut your eyes and you'll see us both right by your side. We can't wait for Cody to get better, so you can come home, and then I'll have my arms opened wide to give you both a BIG HUG!! We love you very much, and are praying for you both.
